done done and done....

well y'all  i did it! i survived 8th grade for the second time. :) go me! i have finished my practicum which is basically known as my internship. it's ten weeks of "practicing" to be a teacher and learning as much as i possibly can in those ten weeks.  i survived and actually liked it for the most part.

i am going back to the 8th grade in january for some social studies or in this case 8th grade history.  ahhh! i will spend my break getting caught up on that don't you worry.  i will say this, it's a good thing that georgia history and south carolina history are similar.

mom and dad have left town again and left me in charge of the dogs.  ask me how this goes in a few days so far i suck at it.

i am spending the day watching college football and making lesson plans.  who's jealous?  just think next year i can do this and get paid! ha ha.

i'm back....

who missed me?  school has been kicking my arse and then some.  i'm extremely burnt out due to the lack of a break and the whole "free" thing but this upcoming friday i will have successfully completed my first few weeks of student-teaching/being an intern.

i am slowly but surely getting my life back together, although i gotten illness number 1 (thank you germy students!!!) i spent the weekend sleeping/recouping and while i can still hear the ocean in my ear i feel much better.  i have today off as it's another teacher work day (sweet!!) and will be resting/sleeping until going to the doctor this afternoon.

who knows maybe with this new free time i'll start blogging again?

WEST WING AND LATE NIGHTS...

my third, yes i did say third senior year while writing my capstone project i started rewatching west wing to get myself motivated.  so tonight while working on some geography hwk i started rewatching it again and it makes everything better.  i never thought i'd say this but i may love this show more than i love 90210.  (don't beat me up people it's still right up and i will forever quote it!)  i want a president like bartlett, can't hollywood make a good one?  i also want to believe in the future of this country and its education and as a future teacher i can't say that i do.  i've always wanted to teach, yes every little kid plays teacher but to me it's what i wanted to do and after some sidetracking i'm back doing what i love.  while this is something i love, and want to do i can't say that about some of my fellow teachers.  i remember discussing what i wanted to do with some of my mothers friends and them telling me to go to something else, they were teachers already.  what is this?  everyone who wants to be a teacher knows that it is one of the most important but underrated jobs out there. the pay sucks (even with a masters), the students are getting worse and worse, their parents want you to baby-sit them, the "politics" of teaching but at the end of the day there is hope.  you are teaching the future whether they are the future garbage man or future president you want them to know that you care for them and you want them to succeed.  i think the fact that i've had a hard time getting here not to mention i'm that kid that never really thought i would succeed and hello i'm somewhat kicking grad school butt (it's kicking back and sometimes winning..)

i just want to say that you should thank a teacher, and that if you think i'm crazy for wanting to teach middle school (don't tell me until after i've been teaching for a few years please!) if you want to tell me i'm crazy for something else i've done which well isn't surprising you can do that!

are you learning a new fact each day?  today's random fact of the day has to with the state capitol of south carolina.  there are statues on it of strom thurmond and ben "pitchfork" tillman both major racists.  my question is are we the only state that has an embarrassing past?

PICKENS...

so i don't really sleep anymore. silly grad school! since i don't sleep i spend quite a bit of time overthinking projects, searching the web, and basically stalking people on facebook... he he!  i have also spent quite a bit of time watching the history channel and channel i which is investigation discovery.  (ryan you'd be soo proud)
the reason i am discussing this is that i have realized that teaching is definitely what i want to do. i love learning new things, and all this history is very very interesting so i'm restating my you should learn something new every day!  random day of the fact today is about mr. t.boone pickens of holdenville, oklahoma.  that's right holdenville right near good ole seminole.  he's related to some founding fathers of south carolina, which i found to be very interesting because governor pickens was fiesty and very forward thinking kind of like mr.pickens.
also have i mentioned i'm an aunt?  parker is precious!!! everyone should make me an aunt.  ok maybe not everyone but i'm all for it! ha ha...
